The Shiloh Baptist Church, south and back west of Bridgeport, will host its Annual Gospel Jubilee and Hog Roast Sunday evening with free admission. A free pulled pork meal is served at 4:00 with Gary Brewer and the Kentucky Ramblers in concert at 5:00. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. All are invited.
The Flora High School Auditorium will host Gary Burt, known as the Frank Guy, Sunday afternoon at 2:00. The former resident of Flora will be crooning songs made popular by Frank Sinatra with all proceeds to the Flora Public Library Technology Fund. The $15 tickets are on sale at the Library. A Salute to Veterans will be held this afternoon through tonight from 12:00 to 10:00 at the Legacy Harley Barn near Effingham. There’ll be food, music, fireworks, and more. All Veterans and families are invited.
Rolling Thunder will host a fundraising ride today with registration this morning from 9:00 to 10:30 at the Olney VFW. Then after the ride its back for an evening meal, auction, raffle, and music.
The Calvary Baptist Academy has a fundraising cookout today at Rural King in Olney, serving from 10:00 to 2:00. It includes a pork burger, chips, drink, and dessert meal for only $5.00. All proceeds will be used for a special upcoming field trip for the kids.
The Flora Gardens Care Center will host their first Annual Car Show this afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 with registration starting at 10:00 this morning. It’s all at Charley Brown Park, just off of Old Route 250, at the west edge of Flora. Also, a 50/50 drawing, concessions, and free admission for spectators.
The Olney Knights of Columbus will finish up their Tootsie Roll days today with volunteers in their bright yellow aprons at the Walmart SuperCenter and Olney IGA. They’ll be exchanging tootsie rolls for cash donations with all the proceeds to benefit three local programs : Special Olympics : Special Needs Classes in Richland County : and the Community Support Systems Summer Program : help them out.
