(FLORA) The investigation is continuing into a car/bicycle collision that occurred in Clay County this past Saturday night at around 7:46, well after sunset. The Illinois State Police reports that 24 year old Dallas L. Harmon from Olney was bicycling eastbound on Old Route 50 / Route 250 east of Flora’s Airport Road, just east of Flora, without any lighting on his bicycle, when an eastbound car, driven by 77 year old Carrol L. Colclasure from Flora, struck the bicycle from the rear, ejecting Harmon from the bicycle. Harmon was taken to Clay County Hospital in Flora, life-lighted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, and later taken to the University of Indiana Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Colclasure, who was not injured in the accident, was ticketed by the State Police for operating a motor vehicle with an expired driver’s license. Harmon was ticketed by the State Police for operating a bicycle without lighting during nighttime use.
