(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois State Board of Elections is reminding Illinoisans that early voting is now underway statewide. Voter registration is available by stopping by County Clerk offices throughout the state during their regular office hours or by going online to the State Board of Elections’ website through October 21st. The November 6 General Election features races for Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Comptroller, State Treasurer, and seats in the State House and Senate and in Congress. According to the Board of Elections, over 1.4 million registered voters cast early ballots in 2016, a Presidential election year. Two years ago, there were 497,000 early voters in Illinois.
(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Department of Agriculture will host more than twenty (20) international buyers from four different countries starting today and running through mid-week. The fall 2018 Grain Tour will include eight different stops in Illinois, all in an effort to increase export sales for the Illinois grain industry and the state’s agriculture industry in general. Over the past five years, the Illinois Grain Tour has generated more than $205 million in sales of grain, oilseeds, farm equipment, and much more in Illinois.
(SPRINGFIELD) Starting today, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) will begin scheduling appointments and accepting applications for winter heating assistance for senior citizens and people with disabilities. While the sign up for disconnected households and families with children ages 5 and under will not start until November 1, all other individuals not eligible for priority enrollment cannot apply until December 1.
