(OLNEY/NEWTON) A warm front lifting north through upstate Illinois this morning followed by an approaching cold front to our northwest will all combine for a weather pattern change for our downstate area in the days ahead. With a dry and warm sky set for today, we’ll have increasing clouds tonight and a chance of some scattered rain or thunderstorms after midnight, towards daybreak on Thursday. Then more rain chances for us as the cold front pushes through by tomorrow afternoon with a little cooler air in place for Thursday. However, the cold front will become a warm front as this low pressure system reverses with movement back northward, we’ll now have rain chances returning tomorrow night through Friday morning. And while our Friday night football weather should be in good shape, the front will then reverse again late Friday night and return southward across our area as a cold front, bringing us more rain chances Saturday through Sunday. This scenario could repeat itself by midweek of next week, if not sooner. Stay tuned for weather updates and monitor a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for further details as to our downstate weather.
