The Olney Public Library will have a Local Heroes Party and Story Time at 1:00 this coming Saturday afternoon. The free event will feature local firefighters, police officers, and military personnel reading special stories. Light refreshments served, plus treat bags for the children. All ages are welcome.
The Olney Area Pilots Association will host their “Chili Fly-In” this Saturday with serving from 11:00 to 2:00 at the Olney/Noble Airport, located just off of Old Route 250 between Noble and Olney. Also serving hot dogs, homemade pie, and drinks for $7 per person. Either fly-in or drive-in. All are invited to stop by.
The Jasper County 5th and 6th grade bands and the Jasper County Junior High School will be holding a pork burger fundraiser at the Eagles, on the south side of the Newton Square, this coming Saturday, from 10:00 to 1:00. All proceeds will support the future Marching Eagles in Newton. In town deliveries of ten pork burgers or more is available. Call in advance and leave a message at 618-562-3451.
The Olney Elks will present Addison Johnson in concert this Friday night at 8:00. A $25 tickets includes one drink, snacks, and a reserved seat. Doors open to ticket holders at 7:00. The Richland County Retired Teachers Association will have its next meeting this coming Thursday at The Holiday in Olney, beginning at 11:00. The program will feature Paul Strid with AMBA, explaining the benefits available to retired teachers. All retired teachers in Richland County are welcome to attend.
