(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Department of Transportation convened its first “Traffic Safety Summit : Partnering Toward Zero Deaths” this past Tuesday in Springfield. The initiative brought together local and state agencies, public officials, and community members to seek solutions to distracted driving and develop new ways to increase safety and awareness on Illinois roads. Earlier this year, IDOT launched its “Life or Death Illinois” multimedia campaign, which includes vivid imagery and key statistics to underline the importance of safe driving. (SPRINGFIELD) Governor Bruce Rauner and First Lady Diana Rauner received their flu shots earlier this week in Springfield, highlighting the importance of Illinoisans protecting themselves this flu season. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend flu shots for everyone over the age of six months. Influenza activity often increases in October and tends to peak between December and February.
