(OLNEY) Over thirty (30) members and guests from the Olney FFA Chapter attended the 91st National FFA Convention, held last week in Indianapolis, Indiana. The chapter had the state winning Forestry and Conduct of Chapter Meetings teams compete and three individuals received their American FFA Degree.
The Forestry CDE team included Lance Mitchell, Seth Mitchell, Travis Wilke, and Morgan Puckett as they finished 8th in the nation. Individually, Lance, Seth, and Travis received a gold ranking and Morgan had a silver rank. Additionally, two of the individuals were in the top ten with Lance Mitchell 2nd and Seth Mitchell 5th.
The Conduct of Chapter Meetings team consisting of Jennifer Rudolphi, Nick Baker, Jacob Pampe, Hayley Pitts, Evan Rudolphi, Colby Steber, and Holly Duncan received a bronze team ranking.
Three Olney members received the American FFA Degree, the highest degree an FFA member may earn. The three recipients were Derek Ochs (son of Kevin & Pam Ochs), Reid Edwards (son of Greg & Cris Edwards), and Kenna Steber (daughter of Mark & Becky Steber).
Other activities members enjoyed during the convention included an FFA Garth Brooks concert, Cinch World’s Toughest Rodeo, tours of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Ozark Fisheries, Indiana’s State Capitol, and the National FFA Center, plus a visit to an escape room called Break Out Indianapolis. Members also attended leadership workshops and an Ag Career exposition including businesses and colleges from across the nation and during the last session President Donald Trump addressed members and guests in attendance, plus the new National FFA officer team was installed.
