(SPRINGFIELD) Illinois Governor-elect J.B. Pritzker yesterday named labor leaders, a former lawmaker, and Chicago allies to a team looking into Illinois’ troubled finances. Pritzker says this is the first of several working groups he will form to address specific state issues. The Democrat will be sworn in on January 14 and within weeks of taking office will have to deliver a budget plan to the Legislature. Illinois is currently behind in paying bills by about $7.5 billion with an estimated $1 billion shortfall in this year’s state budget.
