(NEWTON) The Jasper County Veterans Day program will start at 10:30 this morning on the Courthouse Lawn in Newton and all are encouraged to brave the weather and attend. The special guest speaker at this morning’s program in Jasper County will be Congressman John Shimkus, plus many others from the community will be taking part in this morning’s Veterans Day Program in Newton. Volunteers are also encouraged to help out as all the flags will be collected at 4:00 later this afternoon. The flags will then be put back out at 6:00 tomorrow morning and collected again at 4:00 tomorrow afternoon. The flags will then be folded a week from today. (OLNEY) The Veterans Day Parade in Olney will be next Monday morning. The lineup at the TrustBank parking lot begins at 10:20 with the Parade to start at 10:40, making its way along Main Street to the Richland County Courthouse Lawn, where the Veterans Day Program will begin at 11:00. If rain should interrupt the plans, the Veterans Day Program will be held at 11:00 Monday morning at the Olney VFW. All are invited out to attend the Veterans Day Parade and Courthouse Lawn Program next Monday morning.
(OLNEY/NEWTON) A reminder that most all area City and Village Halls will be closed next Monday, November 12, in observance of Veterans Day 2018. Also, Republic Services will not observe the Veterans Day holiday next week, therefore Republic’s trash collections will run all of next week in the Olney, Noble, Newton, and surrounding areas at their normal locations and times as usual. In Olney, the curbside recycling pick up will be on its normal schedule and Olney’s brush dump on West Mack Avenue will be closed next Monday, but back open next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, from 10:00 to 4:00, each day.
