(OLNEY) The City of Olney is beginning its Fall Leaf Collection Program this week. Starting today, citizens can call City Hall when their bagged leaves are placed by the street and ready for pick up. Others who plan to rake their leaves are requested to place their loose leaves as close to the street as possible, but to not place the leaves in the streets and not in ditches. The vacuum machines will drive through the city to pick up loose piles of leaves as often as possible. Citizens can utilize the city’s brush dump on their own, as it will be open later this week on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, each day from 10:00 to 4:00.
(NEWTON) The City of Newton’s Street Department is continuing to vacuum leaves along the streets of Newton, at least through the rest of this month of November and possibly into the first week of December, if required. The leaves must be placed along the streets of Newton, but not in yards across the ditch. Plus do not place leaves in the streets to interfere with traffic and do not place leaves in ditches to obstruct water flow. And remember that only leaves will be vacuumed, not twigs, limbs, or other yard waste. When leaves are ready to be vacuumed, call Newton City Hall weekdays at 783-8451 from 8:00 to 5:00. After 5:00, call the Street Department at 783-8511 and leave a message with the address and phone number for vacuuming.
