(OLNEY) With the National Weather Service predicting a major snow event for our downstate area, here’s a quick reminder to the residents of Olney. While City of Olney Street Department workers are pre-treating the Olney streets in preparation of the expected snow, city officials continue to monitor the snow forecasts. The citizens of Olney are reminded to keep the streets that are designated as Snow Emergency Streets clear of any vehicles in the event that such an emergency is declared, which usually requires two inches of snow or more. Therefore, with anywhere from 3 to 5 inches of snow forecasted for Olney over the next 24 to 48 hours, the Snow Emergency Streets, which are marked by posted signs, should be clear of all vehicles by tonight. If needed, City workers will be ready to run the snowplows on Olney’s major streets as often as required. Motorists should be alert to the use of snowplows within Olney and along area highways as well.
