(SPRINGFIELD) Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White is encouraging families in Illinois to ready together tonight during Illinois’ annual Family Reading Night celebration. With this year’s theme “Reading Takes You Everywhere” parents, guardians, grandparents, and other family members are urged to set aside time on this Thursday night to shut off all electronic devices and to set down as a family unit and read something out loud. It’s proven that reading together creates a positive learning environment, which helps children develop language skills, reading comprehension, and a love for reading that can last a lifetime.
