(NEWTON/OLNEY) In yesterday’s USDA Illinois Crop Report, there were only 2.9 days on average around the state that was suitable for fieldwork last week. The statewide average temperature was 29.8 degrees, 12 full degrees below normal, while last week’s average rainfall amount in Illinois was 0.31 inches, 0.33 inches below normal. As of Sunday, the state’s corn crop was 99% harvested with 96% of the beans and 93% of the sorghum cut, plus 95% of the winter wheat now sown. Farmers in our area counties report most all regional crops have been harvested with some exceptions. Remember “safety first” out there.
