The First United Methodist Church in Olney will host a special event this coming Sunday evening. It’s a live nativity scene from 4:30 to 6:00 with the serving of soup and sandwiches in the fellowship hall with all the proceeds from the fundraiser to benefit the church’s Youth Program. All to be followed by the church’s Christmas Program and Carol Sing at around 6:15. All are invited to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
A fundraising “soup and silent auction” benefit will be held this Saturday afternoon and evening at the American Legion in Louisville to help out Darel Hilderbrand, who’s been battling medical conditions since last summer. Running from 12:00 noon to 7:00 that night, they’ll be serving vegetable soup, ham & beans, chili, cornbread, and desserts, plus that silent auction and a gun raffle with tickets on sale until Saturday evening. Hospice of Southeastern Illinois will have its annual Cookie Walk and Festival of Trees this coming Saturday morning, December 1, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, from 9:00 to 12:00 noon. It will include a delicious assortment of holiday cookies and candies, plus a dazzling array of two foot trees and decorated wreaths featuring a variety of themes, which will be sold by a silent auction bid format. All proceeds help provide care and support to terminally ill patients and their families throughout thirteen area counties.
