(SPRINGFIELD) In yesterday’s USDA Illinois Crop Report, the statewide average temperature for last week was 38.5 degrees, 1 full degree below normal. Last week’s average precipitation around the state was 0.43 inches, just over a quarter of an inch (0.27) below normal. Illinois’ topsoil and subsoil moisture supplies are both rated over 90 percent adequate to surplus. As of Sunday, 99 percent of the state’s corn and soybean crops have been harvested with 94 percent of the sorghum crop harvested. Farmers in our ten county area report most all the local harvest is complete. Farmers are reminded to remember “safety first” while working around the farm.
