The First United Methodist Church in Olney will host its live nativity scene from 4:30 to 6:00 tomorrow evening with soup and sandwiches. Then the Christmas Program and Carol Sing at around 6:15.
The Indiana Rail Road’s Santa Train will be making area stops tomorrow, December 2. From 9:00 to 10:30 in Newton, from 11:15 to 12:45 in Oblong, and from 1:30 to 3:00 in Palestine. All area children, even adult children, are invited to come aboard to see the train and give Santa their wish list.
The next area blood drive is tomorrow morning at the Holy Cross Parish Center in Wendelin from 8:00 to 12:00 noon. All eligible and first-time donors are encouraged to get out and give. All blood types and platelets are needed to replenish low regional blood supplies with a critical need for type “O” blood.
A fundraising “soup and silent auction” benefit will be held today at the American Legion in Louisville to help out Darel Hilderbrand. Running from 12:00 noon to 7:00, it’s vegetable soup, ham & beans, chili, cornbread, and desserts, plus that silent auction and gun raffle with tickets on sale at the door.
The Sailor Springs American Legion Post 230 will host a “deer hunter’s lunch” today, with serving from 10:00 to 2:00. The menu includes chili, vegetable soup, sloppy joes, hot dogs, desserts, and drinks.
Hospice of Southeastern Illinois will have its annual Cookie Walk and Festival of Trees this morning from 9:00 to 12:00 noon at the Trinity Lutheran Church at the east edge of Olney. It will include an assortment of holiday cookies and candies, plus two foot trees and decorated wreaths featuring a variety of themes, which will be sold by a silent auction bid format. All proceeds help provide care and support to terminally ill patients and their families throughout thirteen area counties.
The Mt. Gilead Church north and west of Olney, will host “The Bethlehem Walk” this weekend for public viewing. Everyone is encouraged to load up the family and check it out. It’s tonight and tomorrow night, from 5:00 to 8:00 each night. Includes animals and much more. All ages are welcome.
Get out and check the Olney Christmas Lights Display in the Olney City Park. The display is available from 5:00 to 10:00 tonight and from 5:00 to 9:00 tomorrow night. Also, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for visits by children tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 in the Olney City Park Community Building.
