Everyone’s invited to the “Open House” today from 10:00 to 2:00 at the Richland County USDA Offices, along South Route 130, just south of the Red Rooster in Olney. All area landowners, farmers, and others are invited in for soups, desserts, and more. That’s all today from 10:00 to 2:00.
The Claremont Bonpas Volunteer Fire Department will host a fundraising “two piece chicken dinner” this coming Saturday evening with serving at the Fire Station from 4:30 to 6:30. The meal includes several all-you-can-eat sides, desserts, and drinks, plus a drawing for Christmas cash at 6:00. The $10 adult tickets and $7 children (6 to 12) tickets on sale at the door. Children age 5 and under eat free. All are invited.
Mayor Mark Lambird will host a “donation-only” pancake and sausage breakfast this Saturday morning at the Olney VFW with serving to start at 7:00. All meal donations will go to help defray the cost of the Richland County Farm Safety Day Camp which serves all fifth grade students in Richland County. The camp has been educating county-wide children about farm safety for more than two straight decades.
A note that Barbershop Quartet music will be available by the Christmas Tree in Olney’s Bower Park this coming Thursday, from 6:00 to 6:30. Check it out this Thursday evening in Olney’s Bower Park.
The Jasper County Health Department will host its next Children First class this coming Wednesday afternoon and evening, from 3:00 to 7:00, with registration at 2:30. Get out and check the Olney Christmas Lights Display in the Olney City Park. The display is available from 5:00 to 9:00 on Sundays through Thursdays and from 5:00 to 10:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. That’s each night, now through New Year’s Eve, December 31. Also, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for visits by children this Friday and Saturday nights from 6:00 to 8:00 in the City Park Community Building.
The Village of Clay City has issued a “boil water order” for all of its water customers until further notice. The “boil water order” began at 3:00 yesterday (Monday) afternoon. Customers should boil their water for at least 10 minutes before using to drink or to cook with. That’s a “boil water order” until further notice for all water customers of the Village of Clay City.
