(OLNEY/NEWTON) As the cold front that brought us our overnight and early morning rain has pushed eastward into the Appalachians, we’ll have some lingering light rain or drizzle this morning along with the cooler air that’s filtered in from the northwest. Then it will be generally dry and seasonably cool weather conditions for tonight through Monday evening. A weak high pressure ridge will shift east of Illinois tomorrow afternoon with sunshine mixed up with clouds by Saturday afternoon and plenty of sunshine on Sunday with a dry and partly sunny sky for Monday, Christmas Eve. Most weather models are showing a dry Christmas Day next Tuesday with temperatures in the 40’s, although other forecasts are calling for some scattered rain. Then another storm system moves in next week after Christmas with heavy rains possible for our downstate area next Wednesday night through Friday, followed by a dry and cool final weekend of 2018.
