(OLNEY/NEWTON) Quiet weather will be on tap today as high pressure drifts across our downstate area. Our sky will initially be sunny this morning, than some high clouds increase and thicken from west to east across the state as the day progresses. A short wave trough currently over the Rockies will approach from the west tonight, eventually spreading the scattered chance of light rain early on Christmas morning with the spotty precipitation ending by midday tomorrow, plus some snow could be mixed with the rain at times. We’ll return to mild and dry weather conditions by Tuesday mid-afternoon with similar conditions for Wednesday, however some clouds move in ahead of a strong storm system that will bring us rain chances, with thunderstorms possible, for late Wednesday and through the day on Thursday. We’ll return to a dry sky on Friday with a colder airmass expected to settle into the Midwest with another storm system moving in next weekend. Stay tuned for weather updates and monitor a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for details.
