(OLNEY/NEWTON) A cold front advancing across Illinois this morning will kick up a west / northwest wind and drop temperatures for this Friday, all the while with a clearing sky and eventually plenty of sunshine for the rest of today. A high pressure ridge will keep us dry and cold tomorrow with a slight warm up for Sunday. The next significant weather-maker for our downstate area will come into the picture Sunday night into Monday as a southern stream wave approaches from the southwest. It will bring us more rain chances for late Sunday night into Monday, all to be followed by a much colder airmass to kick off the new year of 2019 with the arctic air in place next Tuesday and Wednesday. Stay tuned for continued weather updates and monitor a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for more weather information and details.
