(OLNEY/NEWTON) An arctic high pressure out over the Central Plains will give our downstate area a dry and cold couple of days for this final weekend of 2018. With some sunshine and clouds mixed up today, we’ll clear off with plenty of sunshine on tap tomorrow, however the clouds return with the next low pressure system, which will give us more rain chances on New Year’s Eve. Expected to begin late Sunday night, after midnight, the rain totals before ending Monday night will be at least one to two inches. Then a strong cold front moves through with colder air in place for New Year’s Day and next Wednesday, but the cold snap appears to be short-lived with some warmer air returning by the end of next week. Stay tuned for continued weather updates and monitor a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for other weather information.
