The Christian Church of Olney will host Generation Now Night coming up this Sunday evening from 7:00 until 8:00. The inspirational night will include God’s Word for today’s Christians from Eber Whitehurst and current Christian music from Elijah and Amanda Keen. A contemporary service for all.
The Jasper County Solid Waste Program continues tomorrow at the County Highway Garage location northeast of Newton, open from 7:00 to 3:30 on Saturday. Dumpsters available for appliances with no Freon & no compressors, for metal only, and other items. No tires, yard waste, or electronics are accepted. The next rural dumpster for next Wednesday morning, January 9th, will be at the West Liberty location.
For those who’d like to become a part-time or full-time school bus driver, a training session will be held tomorrow in Robinson, however the signup and registration deadline is at 12 noon today, on this Friday, January 4. It’s for those at least 21 years old with a valid Illinois Drivers’ License with an “S” endorsement and with the training costs at only $8.00. For more general details, go online at www.roe12.net.
The Newton Boy Scout Troop #156 has a fundraising “fish fry” coming up this Friday evening at the Newton VFW, with serving from 4:00 to 7:00. It’s $9 a plate for fish and all the sides, $12 for a plate of all fish. Call-in’s are welcome and delivery is available within the Newton city limits. Also, there will be bake sale items and the Scouts will have meat sticks for sale. All are invited out tonight to the Newton VFW.
