(OLNEY/NEWTON) The strong low pressure system continues to move away from the Midwest with more wintry precipitation expected for our downstate area for another 12 to 24 hours. The 2 to 4 inches of snow that fell in our region overnight will be followed by more light snow mixed with rain through this Saturday, then we’re back to more light snow tonight through tomorrow morning before it all comes to an end. The bulk of the heavy snow fell to our northwest, on a St. Louis to Champaign line, anywhere from 6 to 10 inches yesterday afternoon and last night as the storm tracked further north than anticipated. Once the storm system fully shifts eastward away from our region, we’ll be dry Sunday night all the way through most of next week until another storm system is expected with a snow and rain mix next weekend. Stay tuned for continued weather updates and monitor a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for more information.
