(FLORA) The investigation continues into a two vehicle traffic crash that occurred at 10:40 yesterday (Sunday) morning along Old Route 50 west of Flora. The State Police report 30 year old Rylan Flood of Flora and 80 year old Don Ellis of Xenia were traveling opposite directions when they met near a curve in the roadway. Flood began to negotiate the curve and crossed the center line causing the partial head-on collision. After Ellis was extricated from his pickup truck, both drivers were taken to Clay County Hospital in Flora for treatment. Flood was ticketed for improper lane usage, for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, for illegal transportation of alcohol, and for failure to wear a seatbelt. Rescue personnel from Clay County and Flora, along with the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, assisted the Illinois State Police at the accident scene.
