(SPRINGFIELD) In his final clemency review, Governor Bruce Rauner last Friday granted 30 clemency requests and 4 commutations while denying 268 other clemency requests. It’s important to note the backlog from Illinois’ two previous administrations has been cleared and there are currently no pending clemency petitions in the Office of the Governor. By the way, a granted clemency request for a pardon with expungement allows the petitioner to seek expungement of their conviction through the court system.
(SPRINGFIELD) Governor Bruce Rauner signed into law last Friday a new law eliminating unnecessary and impractical barriers to important sun protection methods for children in Illinois. While the previous law required students to bring a physician’s prescription to possess or use sunscreen at their school or camp, the new law will allow students to possess sunscreen while on school property or at a school-sponsored event without a physician’s note. In addition, schools must implement a curriculum that teaches students about skin cancer and how to reduce the risk for it. The new legislation for Illinois goes into effect immediately.
